Just Met A Dreamer: I Hope We Don’t Break His Trust

Just randomly met a young man who is a “Dreamer,” one of those young people benefitting from Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). He was brought here when he was 12. He’s working hard. Doing his best, making his way, and trying to do the right things.

When asked about his position on DACA last week here in Edmond, Senator Lankford said very clearly that “in the United States we do not punish children for the actions of their parents” and that this is one of our core values. This young man I met today has trusted our government to make good on this value. He put his name on a list because he wanted to do his part to make things line up. I’m praying we don’t break his trust.

Please contact your elected officials and let them know your position on this issue. Do so by phone. Contact their local offices and their DC offices.

I’m a husband, father, and one of those friends who has a terrible habit of not returning phone calls.  I’m really just trying to figure out what it means to follow Jesus, and I enjoy meeting great people along the way and maybe having a chance to spend time talking about things deep and trivial.
