My good friend, Ben Freeman, and I sat down again and recorded the second episode of the Out of Context podcast. Again, it was a blast (and, again, Ben did all the work).
In this second episode, we begin to touch on the idea and issues (pro and con) of taking the Bible “out of context.” We touch on a couple of popular Bible verses (Jeremiah 29.11 and Philippians 4.13), talk a bit about the context of Jesus’ statements regarding “binding and loosing”, and briefly discuss issues of interpretation, genre, and community.
